And don't you hate it when parents gloat about how smart their kids are? I do. But I'm totally going to do it right here. Right now.
I think we all recall last fall's fiasco involving Finn and his kindgergarten debut. If you need a refresher, you can start HERE and work your way forward.
But in a nutshell, it wasn't a good start to the year and Finn was labeled as a behavior/discipline problem and spent much of his day facing the wall in "time out."
Since the teacher switch, things have gone well. Very, very well. In fact, at spring conferences Finn's teacher spoke to us about having Finn evaluated for the gifted program. Last week he was evaluated and he wasn't just a little bit in the range--he was way in the range.
So forgive me, while I feel very, very vindicated and smug. And happy for Finn, of course.

Good for you Nat-we know our children.......you KNEW that Finn was not the problem. Gifted???? Way to go FINNNNNNNN!

You should feel proud of yourself for going to the mat for your son. school is hard to negotiate for any child, but throw a child in with any special issues and it is like ramming your head in to a wall. I have a daughter with ADHD -- we will always need to make sure that the school does what is needed to help her out in school.
That is so awesome for Finn! And not only awesome in the "ha-ha, Mr. Sucky Kindergarten Teacher" kind of way, but also awesome because hello??? Did anyone forget that the child endured 3+ years of chemo? With side effects typically including academic struggles in school? Clearly not for Finn, which makes this even more celebratory! Go, Finn!
That is so awesome!!!!! I was just thinking the other day how Finn was doing with his new teacher! I am so glad to hear that! Now Mr. Sucky Kindergarten Teacher can go put both his feet in his mouth and hopefully pull his head out of you know where to try to become not so sucky.

I always knew you were a stubborn child :-) and would do whatever you needed to do for your children. PLEASE make sure that the 'sucky kindergarten teacher' knows that Finn tested WAY into the gifted program. We'd be happy to send him a few e-mails to alert him to that fact... 3 weeks & 3 days until our trip - I can't wait!!
