Lunch Update

1:39pm: I just got an e-mail from Mrs. Librarian. No tears in the lunchroom today! His lunchroom angels were there for him all the way. And of course, as Mrs. Librarian pointed out, he couldn't stop talking about those Pokemon cards. One hour to go and then apparently we are headed for the toy store.

I realize that this is just the tip of the iceberg for him, but I just want him to have some success. Once. Just to get him going and he develops that feeling of security. I feel like it's such a small request.

I can't wait to debrief Finn on his day. . .more later. . .

Natalie, I just read about your experiences of late (no power here in Ohio, I'm sure you've heard.) Even though I haven't been in the parenting game as long as you have, I have to say that I think you are absolutely doing the right thing. Following several unsavory episodes with one of Will's "friends," I decided several months ago that to hell with what everyone THINKS, I am here to protect these kids and take care of them. I'm their mother and it's my job and I don't give a damn if it's not what everyone else wants to hear. I like the way you put it, "being their advocates." True, it's not necessary to be a bull in a china shop, but they're our kids and you are 100 percent right to be there on Finn's behalf. I !usually detest the saying "you go, girl!" but I'll use it here any way. I'll be thinking about you and praying for Finn. He's going to be great, I can already tell.

Okay, I have just finished reading what Finn has been going through and it breaks my heart. That little guy has been through so much that the last thing in the world he needs is an insensitive blob of a teacher. You tell that jackass that if he does not start treating Finn better that I will fly out there and teach him how it feels to be treated like he is treating Finn. That little guy has always been very special to me and I will not tolerate anyone doing to him what that idiot is doing. Did they not teach him simple human kindness? Hey I know someone who can break his legs for you. Are you game? If you can change his class. It will be so much better for Finn in the long run. Well I have now vented and do feel a little better, but I do mean what I said. Remember June taught me how to handle idiots like him.

Love you
Aunt Kathy
